Classic Automobiles are hugely popular, and many people have formed hobbies restoring old junk auto’s for both fun and profit. Restoring an old junk auto can be time consuming and could be referred to as a labor of love.
Of all the classic’s, I personally think there is something to be said about the beautifully designed 1964 Porsche 911 model, It gives off a classy vibe and just oozes sexy. For a model such as this which has been produced for the best part of 4 decades, it truly is a work of art. A good restoration has the potential of making you alot of money or if your like me, you would rather keep it as your pride and joy.
Another classic is the 1967 Shelby GT500, you may recall this being a favorite car from the world wide blockbuster Gone in 60 seconds. You could say that in a previous life these were actually Mustangs and thanks to the genius of Carroll Hall Shelby an ex Formula 1 racer, who made an incredible leap in to the modification and release of the Shelby. Often found to be at the higher end of price range because of the modifications made from Mustang to Shelby.
The Dodge Charger 1969 is another popular classic. There were very few cars of this model made, so finding one can be like finding a needle in a haystack. The 69 Charger is similar in style to the Camaro, and boasts rear wheel drive and a powerful engine.
Chevrolet Impala 1962-64 are the most popular choice of that model. The first impala models had a distinctive 6 bulb tail light which fast became a trademark associated with all future models.
Another Chevrolet classic is the Chevelle and although they were produced from 1964 the most popular and sought after are those between 1967-69. In the 1960’s the Chevelle was often modified and used for drag racing, as it has a very powerful engine.
The 1953-1975 Chevrolet Bel Air, the more popular being coupes and convertibles. This is one of the less expensive models so is ideal for a first time restoration project.
A few more Classic Junk Automobiles include:
- Pontiac GTO 1964-67
- 1967 Chevrolet Camaro
- Ford Mustang 1964
- 1969 Pontiac Firebird
- 1959 Cadillac
- 1955 R-type Bentley.
Of all the classic cars listed above the Chevrolet models seem to be the most popular, but everyone has their own idea of what makes a car a classic. There is alot of potential in any older cars to be restored to their former glory. The feeling of awe and accomplishment that you will feel as you finally complete your project to open up your very own window to the past.
A few things to remember about classic cars, do your research on all the different models because some are more sought after than others. The Chevrolet Camaro can be hard to find, as are Chevrolet Impalas and the Shelby GT500. If your looking for American muscle then the possibilities go on and on, with more than 30 models from varying years available.
