When it comes to purchasing a new car in today’s market, you will often times see that there is a resurgence in collecting vehicles from long ago. A great deal of these cars have been upgraded, restored, and made brand new in many ways. They might not be meant for long road trips, but they are definitely something to behold. The price tag can be quite high, but that doesn’t deter many collectors that are looking to finally get their hands on the ultimate prize of the car of their dreams. Whether it’s an old school pick up truck, or it’s a fast muscle machine, there are a lot of different options that can be purchased in these modern times. Finding what to look for can be tough at first, but if you keep a few things in mind, you’ll get the best option for your money.

First and foremost, look at the paint job that has been given to the vehicle. Classic cars have to be coated with a very special type of paint and need to have attention to detail. Don’t be fooled by just the reds, blues, and classic colors, try to investigate how the coat was put on and whether or not that detail has been given to the car. If you don’t see the streamlined finish close up, you may have something that is not worth the high ticket. That could be a good negotiation point to drop the price.

Let’s say that you want to get rid of a classic car or you have a frame that you’re just not going to use. The thing to look for here, whether you’re selling or even buying is whether or not the frame has been completely rusted out. If it’s made of steel or any other type of metal, look to see where the rough spots are and whether or not it still of any value. Those that are working on restorations will love these because they can be amended, that is if the rust isn’t too much.

Another thing to look for is the original components inside the dash. If you notice that the pieces are original you cannot only rest assured of the quality of the vehicle but also the resale value. With a few minor touches you could purchase it at asking price then flip it if you need to sell it and make a great deal of money based solely on the original parts. If you’re into classic cars, consider looking at each and every detail to ensure that you’re getting something of note.

When it comes to finding proper racing cars in order to buy or even sell, there are several things that you’ll need to look into. It’s not recommended to simply go out and buy whatever is labeled as such, because you could end up with something that is anything but a capable vehicle for speed. If you’re looking at either side of the coin, consider a few simple tips to ensure that the car that you’re looking at is worth your time and effort. Whether you’re looking to get one straight out or build it to racing glory, you’ll need to focus on several aspects.

First and foremost, look at the body style. Racing cars have a distinct body style that will be more aerodynamic than your average vehicle choice. This will be one of the more compelling and distinct features that you’ll need to look into. If you see that the automobile is a bit too large, bulky, or the design doesn’t appeal to what you’re looking for, than it may not be 100% meant for speed. While some muscle cars fit into this category, it’s important to note that they only do so because of the size of their engine.

The next thing that you’ll need to look into is the engine. Make sure that if you’re going to buy or even sell racing cars that the engine meets the standards that you need to get going fast. If you’re not fully aware of the different types of engines that are out there, then at least look into the horsepower and speedometer to see the maximum speeds. Test drive it or look into the make and model and investigate the option that comes standard and any other options that could be attributed to the engine. By doing a little research, you differentiate between cylinder styles, and more. Oh, one thing to look into here is to ensure that the car has a manual transmission, as automatics are rarely used for racing.

Lastly, when it comes to buying or selling racing cars, don’t get hung up on the paint job. Paint is a good thing, but if you’re going the fastest, no one will notice what it looks like. Always look for engine, body style, and components. Remember, the purpose of the vehicle is to go fast, not necessarily to look good, and that is something that will get you far when you’re trying to flip or even keep a fast car.

© Bc-photo | Dreamstime Stock Photos &Stock Free Images

There are a lot of different things that you can do with a vehicle that you might have and are not using. This is especially true for those that have a classic car sitting in the garage or even in the driveway that isn’t used nearly as much today as it once was. While it’s nice for nostalgia’s sake, there is something to be said about those that want to sell their vehicle and get top dollar. If you’re looking for information on what to do with a classic car, consider a few ideas that will have you dealing with it properly.

First and foremost, consider restoring it to an original shine. This can take a lot of time, but it also can be a great learning experience. Retrofitting the original parts, or even making it into a custom ride can prove to be a bonding experience for friends and family. You’ll want to spend a great deal of time learning, investigating, and figuring out how to get the job done first, but once you get going, it could end up being quite addicting to say the least. After you have accomplished your goals here, you can do one of two major things.

The first option is to do what others are doing with classic cars, and that’s sell it. Selling older model cars that have been restored is a lucrative component to auctions around the world. If you have something truly unique, nice, and restored to it’s original model, you can generate upwards of millions of dollars, depending on several factors. In many cases, some collectors will pay top dollar for a used classic that doesn’t even run, just for the frame and parts alone!

The second major option that you can do with these amazing vehicles of the past is to take them to automobile shows. This is only for those that have something unique, and can pass the judgment of many of the companies that put these on. This can not only be a fun thing to do, but also can generate interest in the purchase of your vehicle if you’re looking at selling classic cars.

Regardless of what you want to do with your vehicle, working or not, you will want to explore all the different avenues of this niche. Millions of enthusiasts are currently talking, exploring, and looking at the many categories of cars from the past and many are even willing to spend big bucks to acquire them. If you have one in your home, garage, or driveway, make sure that you keep that in mind.

When it comes to buying and selling classic cars, there are several different categories that you’ll need to look into. Just the mere mention of the word and many car collector’s will light up because these models are not only rare, but they can bring about a certain flare to the road that is not usually seen with modern vehicles. When you first set your eyes on a classic, you know that you’re looking at something special, especially if you are investing in something that isn’t always available for purchase at dealerships. A great deal of work has to go into the restoration of these automobiles from the past, but when the work is done, they can go for upwards of millions of dollars. Consider the following 3 categories that you should know about when dealing with cars of antiquity.

Limited Edition – The first category is that of a limited edition format. Every car manufacturer released limited numbers of certain types of their models. Whether they added bigger engines, spoilers, accents, or interior linings that were only available to the general public in very limited quantities, these are not going to instantly generate more income. Whether you’re buying or you’re selling, you will see the price increase just for being rare. Always look into what makes things limited edition and you could end up with a trophy in your hands.

Discontinued Models – There are some options that saw a limited release and then were discontinued for a variety of reasons. Whether it was safety concerns, or they just didn’t sell very well, there is always going to be a nostalgic market looking for these. Many a company tried their hand at making cars in the 70s, 80s, and 90s and some of them went out of business trying. However, their craftsmanship still stands today and can really be worth investing into.

Custom – Quite possibly one of the biggest categories that you’ll want to explore is the custom marketplace. These vehicles take the original designs and spruce them up with an amazing amount of detail. Whether it’s paint, tires, rims, or other elements, custom vehicles have been gaining popularity with many reality television shows dedicated to the process.

Regardless of whether you’re looking to buy, sell, or simply collect classic cars, the above 3 categories are going to dominate your searches. They’ll ring in the most money, and most attention as well. Always look for them and join the millions of enthusiasts that are spending a great deal to acquire, restore, and admire them.

For the last of our reviews, we are going to look at the bottom end of the top 30 car movies.

1. Mad Max

Set after the Apocalypse, Mel Gibson starred as Mad Max, a futuristic policeman who has had enough of his job. His boss talks him into going on a holiday, only to find that he is up against a gang of bikers who savagely murder his wife and children as payback for the death of a gang-member. Mad Max seeks his revenge inside a modified 1973 Ford Falcon XB GT Coupe – a souped up V8 monster of a vehicle.

2. National Lampoons Vacation

This is the first in series of National Lampoon films and features a truly awful looking station wagon – it was originally a Ford LTD Country Squire! The film follows the Griswolds as they go on a cross-country holiday to a theme park – a holiday which quickly turns into a nightmare as disaster after disaster follows the Griswolds on their travels.

3. Wayne’s World

Wayne’s World is a mildly funny story about the adventures of 2 metal-heads with no real aim in life. From a basement, they broadcast a dhow called Wayne’s World, a show that is brought to the attention of a network executive who wants to make a higher budget version of the show. Unfortunately, he also wants the girlfriend of one of the friends, resulting in a battle to save both the show and the woman. One of the cars that is featured in the film is a 1976 AMC Pacer.

4. Kill Bill Volume 1

Uma Thurman stars in this Pulp-Fiction style movie about a group of assassins. However, she decides it’s time to leave the group and get married but it doesn’t go according to plan. After surviving being shot in the head she returns 4 years later to take her revenge against the people who destroyed her wedding. Featured highly in this film is the 1997 Chevrolet C-2500 Silverado Fleetside.

5. The Fast and the Furious

This is the first of a couple of movies about an FBI investigation into a spree of hijackings. The undercover FBI agent soon falls under the spell of the gang of hijackers and finds himself starting to have some sympathy with his suspect Dominic Toretto, played by Vin Diesel. HE also finds himself falling in love with Torettos’ sister. High-speed car chases and races follow, culminating in the FBI agent covering for the gang when a sting operation is launched. Aside from the souped up cars used in this film one of the most noticeable was the 1970 Dodge Charger used by the FBI agent.

We are taking a look at the top movies that feature iconic vehicles. The movies that follow are in the top 50 all-time best car movies.

The Blues Brothers

John Belushi and Dan Ackroyd star as the Blues Brothers, on a mission from their former teacher, a Sister, to raise $5000 to help save an orphanage. Their journey takes them into the hands of neo Nazis and has them destroying hundreds of cars in Chicago. THe third star of the movies is their own car, bought at a police auction for peanuts, a 1974 Dodge Monaco complete with the police package.

2. The Italian Job – Original

The Italian Job, starring Michael Caine and Noel Coward is one of the most iconic British movies of all time. It encompasses a complicated plan to steal gold bullion from Italy, out from underneath the Italian Mafia and the police. The real stars of the movie though were the 3 1968 Austin Mk 1 Mini Cooper that were used customized for use during the film.

3. Batman the Movie – 1966

The big screen version of the best-selling TV show features a humorous take on the caped crusader’s antics, along with his sidekick, Robin as they battle Cat woman, The Penguin, the Joker and the Riddler all at once to save Gotham City from ruin. The Bat mobile in this film was a customized 1954 Lincoln Futura.

4. The Graduate

THe Graduate was a mix of 1960’s youth revolt and the upper class echelons of California. THe film charts the story of graduate Dustin Hoffman and his affair with Mrs. Robinson, which falls apart when he falls in love with her daughter. He follows the daughter across the country to win her back when their relationship is sabotaged, using a 1966 Alfa Romeo 1600 Spider Duetto to get him there.

5. Gone in 60 Seconds

This action thriller has all the ingredients required for edge of the seat viewing. Master car thief Nicholas Cage plans to steal a total of 50 luxury cars – all in one night – to help his brother out of trouble. Unfortunately, another group is planning the same heist. This is an all-star cast remake of a 1974 film of the same name, one that is remembered purely for the destruction of 90 cars in one 40 minute chase scene. Cage’s car for the getaway is Eleanor II – a 1967 Shelby Mustang.

In our quest to look at some of the top car movies, we present the following 5 movies where vehicles play an integral part.

1. James Bond – The Spy Who Loved Me

As with all James Bond movies, this one follows tradition with Bond attempting to save the world from yet another self-centered so-called mastermind and teaming up with the ever-present sexy female agent who swaps sides. The 1985 Lotus Esprit appeared in this film, the only Bond film it was in, and had the ability to go underwater.

2. The Cannonball Run

A hilarious cross-country race, similar to The Gumball Rally, this film features fast-paced action coupled with moments of disaster and extreme hilarity. The Cannonball Race starts in Connecticut and finishes in California and, apart from actually winning the race, the sole aim of the drivers is to outsmart and outwit the police who are trying to catch them. This was an all-star film, featuring a multitude of different cars but the one that stood out was the 1980 Lamborghini Countach LP 400S.

2. Batman Begins and The Dark Knight

These films chart the beginnings of Batman, following the story of how a young wealthy man becomes the Caped Crusader after his parents were brutally murdered by muggers. After 7 years of being tutored in the martial arts and being taught to finely hone his senses to superhuman, he returns to Gotham City and takes on the role of protector and savior. THe car used in these films was a rocket powered, armor plated assault vehicle, made for the film, although several versions of it were seen on the streets just before the film was released.

3. Risky Business

Joel is left alone for the weekend after his parents go away, leaving himwith strict instructions not to drive the Porsche. Add into the mix a hooker running from her pimp and the Porsche becomes an attractive getaway vehicle – which is unwittingly given a bath in Lake Michigan. The main star of the film was not Tom Cruise but the 1981 Porsche 928.

4. Christine

This is an adaptation of Stepehn King’s novel about a haunted car with a vicious attitude. THe car is sold to a college geek who is bullied everywhere he goes. As he restores the car, it starts to take over life and gains a life of its own as it destroys everybody who gets in its way and who gets between her and the geek – who has sudelny turned into a super-cool sought-after student. His girlfriend has to persuade him that he must destroy the vehicle to regain his life and stop the spree of terror. Christine herself was played by a 1958 Plymouth Fury.

Vehicles are one of the biggest features of many movies, both today and in yesteryears. We have already looked at the top 5 movies that involve cars so let’s look at the next 5.

1. Ghostbusters
This was one of the funniest films to appear on the big screen in the 1980’s and follows the story of a team of investigators who turn to Ghost busting when their government grants expire. Featured in the film is the 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor, an old ambulance that has been kitted out to meet the Ghostbusters needs. A hilarious story of 4 men who attempt to rid New York of dozens of ghosties and ghoulies.

2. Smokey and the Bandit
Smokey is the Sherriff and the Bandit is a radical racing driver who makes a bet that he can get a shipment of Coors across country within 28 hours (back then it was illegal to sell Coors in certain areas without a license. The car that makes the bet worthwhile and provides for 1 ½ hours of entertainment is the 1977 Pontiac Trans-am.
3. Starsky and Hutch The TV show of Starsky and Hutch ran for many years and put the 1976 Ford Gran Torino firmly in the eyes of the public. However, the TV series was made into a film in 2004 and shot the fame of the car straight to the top of the list with the use of the hot rod. Only a couple of the original cars from the film survived as many were destroyed during filming.

4. Batman, Batman Returns
Jack Nicholson, Michael Keaton and Kim Basinger all star in one the most iconic movies of all time. The story follows the battle between the caped crusader and the Joker, an insane criminal who tries to take over the city. The GM Bat mobile is a sleek sexy looking car that simply made the film what it is today.

5. Ferris Buellers Day Off
Errant teenager Ferris Bueller loves to cut classes at school, and he gets away with it. His
last chance before graduation results in him calling in sick and borrowing a Ferrari – a
1961 250 GT California SWB. He takes off on a day-long spree through Chicago with the
School Principle hot on his heels. A hilarious mix of comedy and complete mayhem ensues. Fortunately for Ferrari lovers everywhere only a replica of the car was written off during filming.
